After being approached by the University of Dundee we were asked to devise a system to allow NHS Scotland patients to access their medical records online. After analysing existing systems we designed and implemented processes to control how data flows between the NHS Technology Centre and the Health Informatics Centre at the University. Applications were designed to collect, replicate and update large quantities of patient data while vital security measures were implemented to control online access.

Having reviewed several key parts of the NHS system, information was provided on ways to improve their software development. A detailed business case and impact assessment was prepared for the migration of NHS database servers forming part of the NHS data warehouse systems across Scotland.
